NIFI actively advocates for policies and funding that expand access to resources, technical assistance, and institutional support for immigrant and refugee farmers, ensuring they have equitable opportunities to succeed in agriculture and contribute to sustainable food systems.
NETWORKING AND INFORMATION SHARING
NIFI facilitates information sharing among farmers while collecting and creating culturally relevant resources to ensure farmers have better access to the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.
CAPACITY BUILDING
NIFI fosters collaboration among immigrant farming programs nationwide, integrating new initiatives into its grant work to strengthen their efforts, share knowledge, and help establish best practices across the field.
FARMING PROJECTS
NIFI is dedicated to supporting underserved agricultural producers and individuals from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Our focus includes limited-resource beginning farmers and ranchers, socially disadvantaged individuals entering agriculture, immigrant farmworkers transitioning to farm ownership, and military veterans starting careers in farming or ranching. Currently, our programs are actively operating in Texas and New Mexico.
