NIFI organizes training to address the needs of immigrant farmers. One of the major focus areas has been interpretation training for staff and volunteers of immigrant-farming projects.
NIFI advocates for more resources and support for immigrant and refugee farmers.
NIFI promotes information sharing among farmers. We also gather materials and develop new resources to increase farmers' access to culturally appropriate resources.
NIFI encourages the immigrant programs across the country to collaborate. Many new programs have been written into NIFI grants to support their work and establish best practices.
NIFI focuses solely on serving underserved agricultural producers and individuals from socially disadvantaged groups within agriculture. This encompasses limited resource beginning farmers and ranchers, socially disadvantaged beginning farmers or ranchers, immigrant farm workers aiming to become beginning farmers or ranchers, and military veterans beginning farmers and ranchers. Our farming projects are currently active in Texas and New Mexico.
